the bars have been raised, unworthy pictures deleted and a whole lot of RANDOM post processing.
sorreh, i haven't been practicing much self control lately, they were all used up during the exams, my bad.
okey the whole penang trip wish woosh intimate details have been wiped out due to the recent memorising disasters so i'll try my best to recite what happened =)
by the time the last post ended, i have checked out of the hotel and headed to my late grandparents' house.
yes yes penang is in the blood =)

i have been to that very same house everytime the world marks chinese new year off their calendars and truthfully, im thoroughly bored with it.
but all's changed with the possession of a rusty my old camera and my new camera, lets just call it FRESh for the moment.

the things there are just so. antique. and old and dusty and it just brings back memories.
but there's this huge cupboard staring at you the moment you step in but what's important is what lies inside.
through the glass, there are peices of collectibles ranging from zero wierdness to perfectly peculiar-ish.
birds made out of 100plus cans, toy cars, trophies, toy humans and whatnot.
and that cupboard has never failed in catching my attention EVERY time i visit. EVERY!
but the most important thing is what lies inside, not on display.
i've only opened up that cupboard a couple of times but this time, i went full stream ahead.
i turned the inside upside down and found some rares that date back im prolly guessing 1940s.
the most interesting were the photos, there were my grandparents' wedding ages ago, my dad's primary class photos and loads of "stand there, smile, 321 snap" vacation pictures.
but obviously there were some other stuff like my grandfather's matchbox collection and draughts which had the round playing peices chipped off till they looked square

visiting penang, isn't it always a must to have assam laksa? but for this assam laksa freak, its a must to have it twice =)
i never tried the "oh so famous" assam laksa up the hill at air itam - my mom said she saw rats.
but being the adventerous freak like my dad, we couldn't care less.
we kindly ditched my sister and my mom off at a shopping complex to do what they do best and we just went up, up and away.

it wasn't even a shoplot. it was a hawker stand on another closed shop's pavements.
so there we were, staring at 10 or so small metal tables with metal chairs, the ones that looked like that guy himself chopped it up and buzzed them up together - unprofessionally done.
all the tables were filled with people and the horrible part was that every table had people waiting, staring at them to finish eating and get the heck outta there.
my dad asked me again "you sure you wanna try?" not because he didn't want but he thought ah, city girl.
you know, im willing to go all out for assam laksas =D

thoughts about the food?
i think it was good but it certainly wasn't great.
not as great as the one i ate previously and certainly not worth the 5 ringgit parking fee we got conned by an old uncle taking advantage of his precious shophouse's grassland on the way up.
oh not to forget, the people eyeing every bite you take, ahhhhhm, ahhhhhm, as if you were criminals but they just wanted your precious seat.
nevertheless, we walked around up there and i pulled my dad here and there for interesting shots.

but the sky BLAZING hot for any outdoor shots, it hurts the eye.
till i saw a man buzzzzing =) chikchakkk he looked at me and i think he didn't like it so i went away.
but that was how i got that shot anyway, i thought it looked gooooood, hence the minimal post processing.

before we headed back to KL, there was one last stop we needed to go.
GURNEY DRIVE!
lo and behold the ultimate night hawker center but did i mention it was in the afternoon?
hah closed shops but we still did manage to get some delicacies or so i might call them.
roasted sotongs =D rojaks =D and some other others i forgot.
tahhh, but that was how my penang trip went.
looking forward to my next adventure =) im thinking camerons, somewhere cold and far far AWAY FROM THE SMELLY DISGUSTING UBER POLLUTED KL AIR.
