PENANG: the streets

BLG + miss swift = Two is Better Than One. too good for your ears, check it out.

People say I shouldn't have fought with all the malays on the road during the Raya holidays. From my sharp eyesight beyong the car windows, they weren't malays after all. (oh beloved rakyats of malaysia who doesn't take holidays for granted)
Introducing the 2nd day of my PENANG ESCAPADE, oh boy swallow your saliva because this is gonna be SALIVATING.

there are a few ALL TIME MUST VISIT SHOPS that i go to everytime i'm at penang. one of which is this hard-to-remember-chinese-named shop near the famous chowrasta market.
this kopitiam-like shop is no ordinary kopitiam shop, they serve GOOD assam laksa, GOOD char kuey teow and GOOD cendol, all under one roof!
although i must admit, the laksa guy was rather rude as he brushed a valueble customer off (which happens to be my mum) with, "WAIT! must wait for taste to come out from the soup!" when asked whether he was open.

as you might remember the post i wrote about this shop my visit during the chinese new year holidays.

smacked right there, the penang style char kuay teow accompanied by lap chiongs and prawns and not forgetting the dull looking but absolutely fantastic tasting penang laksa.
YUMMEHH - better than any in KL at least.

a little fun fact about penang:
the food there is ultra cheap, almost half the price of what you pay in KL so that's why i ate both the meals as shown above for breakfast.
AH YES, waking up just to eat penang delicacies in a sweaty kopitiam enviroment is just the thing i was looking forward to at penang.

after satisfying our empty grouching but now full stomachs, i went walking around the streets of chowrasta market with my sparkling new 500D. oh, and i pulled my dad along to avoid getting kidnapped and ran over by cute little trishaws =)
aka street photography.

i won't say im ALL THAT but i can happily say, im progressing.

we happily retreated to a packet of coconut juice before venturing to the next half of the day.

which shall be revealed another day.

PHOTOGRAPHER'S NOTES:
the sun was just PUMPING its heat everywhere causing huge black shadows everywhere else. the place was rather small though, just a few rounds but i'm happy with the old man with a dog picture.

the gift of TALENT.

some inspiration from a flickr user i absolutely adore, Liyin the Designer-in-Pajamas to fulfill our inner souls for the day.
this girl is as gifted as the onions on a laksa, which also means THE TOPPING OF ALL TOPPINGS.
she photographs with film, she blogs and she carries a journal filled with illustrations. most importantly, she quotes bible verses too! which otherwise means, she's a christian.

and so i suggest you to take a look at her photostream and read an article she wrote, I WANT MORE OF JESUS.

truly talented, i tell ya.

ps: i shall get myself a moleskin to cultivate my drawing skills and i shall, in three weeks time after the exams.

LEAN MEAN fighting machine

this has broken a few ABSOLUTSUSU WORLD OF RECORDS.
the MOST EXPENSIVE SHOE ever owned. 200malaysian dollahs.
the FASTEST TIME TAKEN to buy a shoe. family dinner after that.
the FIRST NIKE SHOE ever owned. in my 15 years 362 days of life.
the FURTHEST PLACE to buy a shoe. 350kilometers away, orient of the pearl.
the FIRST LEATHER SHOE ever owned. i don't own many pairs, really.
the BEST SHOE COLOUR ever created. ORANGE BABAYYYYY!

just imagine how heartbroken i'd be to spill coke all over it. ain't happening, LOSERS.
but imma do some modification to it's wheels (shoelaces), add some speakers (white shoelaces) and probably do some waxing (polishing).

i still don't have the guts to walk the dog (shoes). sigh.

PHOTOGRAPHER'S NOTES:
ooh product photography! ain't my first time but gotta say, pretty satisfied and got what i visioned.
i've seen to many really cool NIKE advertistments like HERE and HERE.
it's time i did one too - to advertise nike, for free.

don't drop your food!

heard of something called mashups? theyre like maggi mashed potatoes cups, only better.
hey we will rock you ya and may i have your attention please, i repeat

yada yada yada, the whole MEATBALL@IKEA fiddlewiddle turned out to be a sunken ship.
ahoy mateys, it meant it got cancelled arrr! lack of pirates i must say, all ye crew members are just so busy mopping their lives up.

just had to do it. ish ma latest wierd shades, all the way from thailand, or so i heard.

izh instead went to have scrumptious overpriced RUBBER-LIKE under the sea creatures.
AH YAT ABALONE FORUM RESTAURANT. ring a bell?

overpriced food are meant to be eaten with family, so you won't have to spend a single cent.

but i think they just wanna eat scrumptiously and used my bday as a nifty lil excuse.
it's where i get my smartness from =)

first and foremost, i would like to say sorry to all you enviromentally in love out there because i might have just ate a couple of shark's fins =)
but it's all good, i made love with them before it went down my skinny little throat.

but the main star of the day

you were very delicious and i'm happy i chopped you into a million cute peices before you end up in my smelly filthy laksafied stomach.
nevertheless, you suck because you were so friggin expensive and i could have saved the money on something more worth it - 500 bowls of laksa.

sadly, i had to play a game of "WHATS THIS DISH?" the whole dinner.
our order was in ching chua hi ha ma mu ni ai wo ma?

all in all, it was fun food tasting each other's 5-course meals =D

just one last thing, i have a really great big bang theory!
the older you get, the shorter your hair gets.
please refer to picture above and laugh your ass off, thank you.

PHOTOGRAPHER'S NOTES:
i wonder how those food photographers do it.
i only have 10 seconds to chik and chak before my mouth goes chomp chomp.

SOMETHING REALLY RANDOM:
i wonder how it feels like to sleep in skinny jeans =D

THNKS FR TH MMRS

One night and one more time
Thanks for the memories

I'm generally happy every day of my life.
BUT one day in an entire 365 days calendar, i expect to have a great time with everyone i meet
and that falls on the 24th day of september, every year - my birthday.

i had a new meaning of birthdays, it wasn't just about the presents nor the whole "IM QUEEN OF THE DAY" attitude.
i don't expect much, really.
but yesterday, MUAHAHAHAHHA.

THANK YOU from the bottom of my heart.
oh, now you'd have to wait one whole year to hear me say that again =)

to all the people who TEXTED me
who WISHED me
who HUGGED me
who KISSED me

and to all you people for the 40sens CHOCOLATE APPOLO CAKES you used to tricked me.

and for the very expensive SECRET RECIPE MANGO CAKE that says HAPPY BIRTHDAY SEXY MISS HOR KATY PERRY/BEYONCE

so as a thank you note, i made this video out of you people who contributed =)
its the first self-made birthday video you'll ever see!

to the PASAR MALAM attendees
who ate POPIAH, OTAK-OTAK, LAKSA, TAKOYAKI, APONG, SOGGY CUTTLEFISH and all the wierd DRINKS we had.

and also the 2 of you who slept over =)
what happened that night, stays that night.

BEST BIRTHDAY PRESENT YOU CAN GET WITH 4 BUCKS.

thank you BOYS and GIRLS.
it has been great indeed.

notes: fun stuff are best kept off-camera.

a lonely september

please click play.

its september 22, 2 days before my supposed-to-be-sweet-but-nothing-is-planned birthday.
sometimes, i think we don't need a special day to suddenly turn mature.
all we really need is..

GOOD FRIENDS and GOOD FOOD.
so what if its at a 100ringgit buffet or 70sen roti canai?? SERIOUSLY.

but anyway im thinking, meatballs at ikea or escargots at a cheap western restaurant or assam laksa at pasar malam.

it's all i can afford. so people, book your seats because my definition of GOOD FRIENDS doesn't exceed 10 people at one time.

again, so what?

PENANG : hard rock

As you all know, I went to Penang during the RAYA holidays and
i just loved malaysia a wee bit more because we have RAYA, CNY, DEEPAVALI and all those nonsensical public holidays =)
that's so me - TAKING ADVANTAGE OF EVERY SINGLE FRIGGIN HOLIDAY. so what?

Last Saturday afternoon, my family took a 5 hour drive up north to a little island called, PULAU PINANG.
sigh, the rain was splatting all over the windows and the traffic jam and accidents, oh boy.

but on the way there, we took a little stop at a place called Bukit Tambun for some good ol' food from under the sea. OCEANFOOD!
the oysters in the ho chien were FAT AND JUICY plus the crabs were filled with extra yummilicious orange eggs.

oh not forgetting those small lil blahhhdy cheap kuihs in all sorts of flavours like corn, red bean and my fav KACANG!
your never gonna find things like these in KL, EVER.

crossed over the penang bridge and head straight to BATU FERRINGHI where our hotel was - BAYVIEW HOTEL.
quickly settled our things down and did the necessities like pooping and WAHing over the huge family room thats supposedly fit for 4 but more like 8 the way i look at it.

oh, not forgetting to CAMWHORE.
(notice the remote i borrowed from a friend, it made camwhoring so much easier)

off we went to the pasar malam to get ourselves some REAL DIRT CHEAP movies.
dirt cheap as in 4ringgit per dvd and the 'buy 10 free 2' tagline.
we cheapskate people smuggled 80ringgit worth of dvds back home. if we were at KL, if woulda cost 160 minimum!

kebetulan pula, that day was PENANG'S HARD ROCK HOTEL'S SOFT OPENING meaning they didn't have the whole opening ceremony thingy but the rooms were available to book.
we did check out the rooms for that hotel, it was fully booked on the weekends till november =/ apa ni lah.
but i gotta feeling they soft opened it during raya to rake in some cold hard $$$$, hmm you thinking what im thinking?

but we did enter the hotel and c-c-c-checked it out.
the hotel was sparkling NEW with fresh furniture and those little artifacts everywhere like what hard rock is famous for.
statues and paintings and alcohollll!

there was a club thumping thumping and the bar was serving drinks like they were free, but they weren't. whaddya expect anyway, 15bucks for a glass of carlsberg. ouch.
BUT it was the cheapest thing there so, gotta sip some up =)

they had this type of chairs which were shaped like round beds that can fit 3 people lying on em with their feet dangling off the chair which i thought was pretty cool but rather space consuming.
oh they had board games for use too! monopoly and some cards, yee typical.

but it was pretty boring though, all the hype was concentrated at the club and there wasn't any performances at the bar/lounge area.

all that was left to do was, camwhore =)
that's ringo from the beatles.

and that was just DAY 1.
stay tuned for more =)

350

three hundred and fifty kilometres, a bazillion raya songs and a few rest stops later, i'm finally back in KL!

i think im already missing penang food. aw darnit.

Friday, September 18, 2009

give me your eyes

give me your eyes for just one second
give me your eyes so i can see
everything that i keep missing

on the verge of finding something so marvelous to show all of you, i found some rather peculiar pictures.
pictures taken at the school canteen, oh FOOD!
but sadly, the food served are food meant to be eaten, not the fancy wancy looking food to be decorated but tastes like my panties food. gedwhadimean?

my partner in crime for all things dumb in class - gaga toh. (think POKERFACE)

my alter ego for all things wacky in class - katy hor. (uh think katy perry people)

but most importantly, the kakaks. especially this one, the watermelon chopper!
and thats her trusty huge arse knife thats pointed straight at me, thats why you see it so sticky thin.

but these are the real deal pictures i took today hoping to exercise my photography skills before the trip to the heaven of alll laksa-s =D
its rather hard to find interestingness in the things you look at everyday, but i tried my living room.

MUAHHAHA. im dressed like a rapper/pimp in sweatshirts and she's dressed like a model. the legs.
i never knew sweatshirts and miniskirts and PEACE signs were so IN last time.

hmm. i'd say i only own two of those - newbalance and MCKY.
must have took long for my sis to search for that ONE pair. or she can paste photos of the shoe on the box like how those celebrities do it.

bar decorations. heh I DO HAVE A BAR in my house =)
but a bar without alcohol and constant visitors turned into a table for letters and keys.

5 painted glasses - just one of my sister's many art projects.

hopefully you now have a pleasant thought of how my living room looks like.

ill be back with loadsa pictures and some muscles! this is gonna be my first time lugging all my gear on a holiday. 500D + lenses + tripod + extra cards.
ITS GONNA BE ONE HECK OF A FOODLICIOUS HOLIDAY.

wanna know somethin?

i got no pictures to post. teehee.

ill be back with fresh stuff tomorrow =) i promise!

An ABSOLUTsusu crappy production

Title says it all. a crappy production entitled ANEH! ROTI PLANTA TELUR SATU!!
english translation for all you ang mohs: aneh is aneh lah! bread planta egg one!

i like roti planta because its sweet but i also like roti telur because its filling.
one day, i finally combined the wires in my head and told myself why not i just order both of em together.
and this was how it became my current mamak order. mind you, i always order the same thing until i get bored of it, in about a month =)

a little more about my ANEH! ROTI PLANTA TELUR SATU!.
directed & produced & starring HOR SUE XIAN
also starring PAULINE NG and JOSHUA CHOONG and SEVERAL OTHER UNKNOWN KELEFEH.

until i get an external microphone, certain productions' audio will be chopped off and replaced with songs i truly love.

thanks for watching ladies and gentleman.

till then, HIP HIP HOORAY PENANG ON SATURDAY BABAYYYYYYY! omg laksa overload.

09.09.09 go for 9.

oh my, how many 9s should there be on the title?
few lightages ago, on the 9th minute of the 9th hour on the 9th day on the 9th year + 2000 years, there was this something up in my school.
Go for 9.
The whole school had to sing a song "this is my country" with a whole loadsa other people simutaneously but not physically seeing each other. geddit?
So my school gathered at the field, other schools gathered at their top secret locations and when the clock struck the magic number: 9, its time to open your mouth and let your inner true talent shine. its as simple as 9, 9, 9.
oh and to prove our  malaysia book of records attempt, we had to take a video of us singing but obviously there were some talented lip syncers =) YOU THOUGHT NOONE SAW HUH, WELL I DID!

check this short clip i shot and compiled. i hope sya doesnt mind i took some footage off his video. =)

oh my, and from watching this video i will conclude that certain people on this face of the earth are just so desperate for attention. jumping up and downs and the peace signs? oh yes. im talking about YOU!

the cute I <3 MALAYSIA shirts.
we should start setting our own trends other than pasar malams instead of always following the I <3 NY shirts, unless you really bought your shirt from NY.

i still haven't bought this girl a present for her birthday. AREYOUTHINKINGWHATIMTHINKING?
i shall print this out and frame it for her. no, for real.

theres nothing much to report about this, really.
we just sang a song and wore a tshirt and hopefully, felt a lil more patriotic than other days.

but we should have more of these kinda things more often =)
oh you know what i think, no classes =P

this will be the last weekend ill have for myself unstressed till after the final exams, sigh.

i have a thousand bits and peices of lamb stuck in between my braces. ugh.
