Keep Moving Forward

Our lives are made, In these small hours
These little wonders, These twists and turns of fate
Time falls away, But these small hours
These small hours, Still remain

In the end, You will only just remember how it feels

It's the little unexpected things in life that makes us happy.

man, just freaking live your life.

Like Walt Disney says it, KEEP MOVING FORWARD.

PENANG: antiques

its the last league of my penang picture phototon.
the bars have been raised, unworthy pictures deleted and a whole lot of RANDOM post processing.
sorreh, i haven't been practicing much self control lately, they were all used up during the exams, my bad.

okey the whole penang trip wish woosh intimate details have been wiped out due to the recent memorising disasters so i'll try my best to recite what happened =)

by the time the last post ended, i have checked out of the hotel and headed to my late grandparents' house.
yes yes penang is in the blood =)

i have been to that very same house everytime the world marks chinese new year off their calendars and truthfully, im thoroughly bored with it.
but all's changed with the possession of a rusty my old camera and my new camera, lets just call it FRESh for the moment.

the things there are just so. antique. and old and dusty and it just brings back memories.
but there's this huge cupboard staring at you the moment you step in but what's important is what lies inside.
through the glass, there are peices of collectibles ranging from zero wierdness to perfectly peculiar-ish.
birds made out of 100plus cans, toy cars, trophies, toy humans and whatnot.
and that cupboard has never failed in catching my attention EVERY time i visit. EVERY!

but the most important thing is what lies inside, not on display.
i've only opened up that cupboard a couple of times but this time, i went full stream ahead.
i turned the inside upside down and found some rares that date back im prolly guessing 1940s.
the most interesting were the photos, there were my grandparents' wedding ages ago, my dad's primary class photos and loads of "stand there, smile, 321 snap" vacation pictures.
but obviously there were some other stuff like my grandfather's matchbox collection and draughts which had the round playing peices chipped off till they looked square

visiting penang, isn't it always a must to have assam laksa? but for this assam laksa freak, its a must to have it twice =)
i never tried the "oh so famous" assam laksa up the hill at air itam - my mom said she saw rats.
but being the adventerous freak like my dad, we couldn't care less.
we kindly ditched my sister and my mom off at a shopping complex to do what they do best and we just went up, up and away.

it wasn't even a shoplot. it was a hawker stand on another closed shop's pavements.
so there we were, staring at 10 or so small metal tables with metal chairs, the ones that looked like that guy himself chopped it up and buzzed them up together - unprofessionally done.
all the tables were filled with people and the horrible part was that every table had people waiting, staring at them to finish eating and get the heck outta there.
my dad asked me again "you sure you wanna try?" not because he didn't want but he thought ah, city girl.
you know, im willing to go all out for assam laksas =D

thoughts about the food?
i think it was good but it certainly wasn't great.
not as great as the one i ate previously and certainly not worth the 5 ringgit parking fee we got conned by an old uncle taking advantage of his precious shophouse's grassland on the way up.
oh not to forget, the people eyeing every bite you take, ahhhhhm, ahhhhhm, as if you were criminals but they just wanted your precious seat.

nevertheless, we walked around up there and i pulled my dad here and there for interesting shots.

but the sky BLAZING hot for any outdoor shots, it hurts the eye.
till i saw a man buzzzzing =) chikchakkk he looked at me and i think he didn't like it so i went away.
but that was how i got that shot anyway, i thought it looked gooooood, hence the minimal post processing.

before we headed back to KL, there was one last stop we needed to go.
GURNEY DRIVE!
lo and behold the ultimate night hawker center but did i mention it was in the afternoon?
hah closed shops but we still did manage to get some delicacies or so i might call them.
roasted sotongs =D rojaks =D and some other others i forgot.

tahhh, but that was how my penang trip went.
looking forward to my next adventure =) im thinking camerons, somewhere cold and far far AWAY FROM THE SMELLY DISGUSTING UBER POLLUTED KL AIR.

clean the mess, wipe the table, clear the books and

breathe.

so a day of trashing my tingkatan empat books out my orange room and sulking in a dozen photography books and magazines i've been waiting several months to finally indulge in turned out to be what a lazy day for myself truly means.

but of course, all the fun is doesn't stop here.
just imagine.

thanks smashpop!
one evil self laughter for myself, another cup of iced ribena and some good news is bound to turn your lazy day into a lazy exciting day =)

what good timing, this month's issue of DCM was all about. PRINTS!
now whose orange wall is gonna be the best orange wall you ever seen in your entire puny life??
mine!

man, I LOVE MY LIFE.

miss independant

what a better time to go off - my parents have been on an "adults only" holiday to Indonesia for some snorkeling fun with her friends aka non-stop-talking aunties and uncles.
and i just finished my exams
combine em together and you get a very messed up ME.

over the course of these 3 days ever since my exams ended, it has been going out, going out and more going out.
and not forgetting, getting fong fei kei-ed in everyway possible, upside inside outside downside and having things dont go as planned.

but im glad i had a good time with my closest pals =)

to yeehern, pauline, josh, ching yet and a little bit of emily, thanks for all your shits and slumber parties this weekend =)

just a lil lowdown on what happened, i did some really dumb stuff.

they said i got drunk but i didn't, i promise. (even if people who are drunk never admit they are drunk, i seriously wasn't drunk)
but i think i banged my head on a door and couldn't walk in a straight line but HECK only models walk in straight lines.

i had to get my own breakfast, lunch, dinner, supper all by myself. HMPPh!

i had to watch my boyfriend make out with my best friend. HMPPh!

oh, last but not least i was transportless.
bicycles were the only mode of transportation.
from busy highways to new housing estates, sri petaling all the way to old klang road, unexpectingly visiting friends and mamak visits, and the usual waking up at teatime.

what a way to start the holidays.
CHEERS, may your holidays not be as dumb as mine =)

OH MAN whats for dinner?!!

the post of hees.

heeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee. heeeeeeeee. heeeeeeeeeeeeeeee.
a little more heee heee and heeeeeeees =)
ok one more, HEEEEEE!

this friday marks the very last day of my very last final examinations of my high school years.
to "BLEH" over the days of coming back home just to study are long gone and forgotten.
sayonara, i say but HELLO HOLIDAYS i say too.

just before literature test =(

however, today was all easy, breezy, beautiful cover girl -ish.

this just explains our attitudes so, so much.
a guy named lawrence woud be scouting for hot chickens, a girl named me would be staring dumbfounded into the camera, a girl named pauline would be ah, fixing her hair as usual and a guy named yee hern, blink. it's his dumb trademark.

it all started with an extremely terrifying bicycle ride ridden by the one and only girl named pauline.
oh my, she was letting go off the handle bars to show her proffesionalism in cycling but HECK, i'm the one standing behind and HECK im the one who would HECKING get injured first. HECK.

a trip to sunway pyramid and a movie ticket for surrogates. truthfully, you need brains for that movie.
no-brainers like me would be better off watching dumb-wittedly funny cartoons like falling meatballs.

oh not forgetting waffles at A&W, tons of digi simcards for Halloween day and a couple of poses and impersonations - please refer to picture above and below.
just a slight clue for you all, we were impersonating a guy that had to do with a girl named pauline. funnily retarded bunch of eyeballs.
and followed by an expensive unworthy meal at Sakae Sushi.

The day ended with chicken wings, some beer and a threesome on a bmx bike, how historical.historical.

ever heard of the term, PLAY HARD? heeeeeee. i flow hard =)
instead of planning my whole weekend with intimate details,
what to do here, where, what time and all those fussy little information,
i'd rather sit back, relax and it flowwwwwwww.

i'll be birthday crashing on a saturday, 3Dfying my brains on a sunday and finally having a day off for myself on monday =)

MAN, too bad you have to read this a week later as your fully booked in my house but darnnn you sleep like a fat baby.
you sleep even when i blast GIVES YOU HELL and HEART HEART HEARTBREAK.
you move and tickle your eyebrows but fail to realise my camera clicks.
your butt and legs are all over my side of the bed and i am so going to shoo you off now =)

goodnight babies. don't let the bed bugs bite.

levi's horse low

this is probably one of the shittiest exams ever. literally.
i ate some food and shitted.
i ate some food and shitted, again.
oh i forgot to mention, soft shits =)
but just so you know, ive figured out the culprits - a ZEN mango passionfruit cake and a half foot long SUBWAY club. man, whaddup with all these food hatin me yo, i've been good to all you little foody!

but anyway, cut the shits and lets go on to some big business.

i bought another pair of shoes, again. i think i've got some shoe addiction going on here.

but anyway this one was cheap - about the same as a luxurious meal at TGIF =)

i'm no emo shit, it just felt right =)

available in 2 editions - neat or unneat.

i can see the face on my friends' faces. "aww man sue xian, another laced shoes? go learn to tie some shoelaces first!"

fyi: i'm always seen with untied shoelaces =) i sudah trademark it la ok.

byebye, one. more. paper. gahhhhhhh!

i want free prints from smashpop.net!

FREE? oh man FREEEEEEEE?
that was the thought when i read Smashpop's Free Photo Prints post.

directions:
1: snap a photo of yourself - CHECK!
2. holding a paper - CHECK!
3. which says "I WANT FREE PRINTS FROM SMASHPOP.NET!" - CHECK!
4. best photo wins the grand prize - ohmigosh!

and that was the story of how a simple phrase could really, really open my sepet eyes.

but in between the accounts papers today, i thought MAN IT MUST BE GOOD TO GET THE GRAND PRIZE.
but waitaminute, it isn't that simple.

a simple smile and a paper held up with a cool little finger like this ISNT gonna get me the grand prize!

neither is this very cliche-ed clear focus blur background going to do trick.
(spot my sister's brand spanking new iphone. but spot my jealousy too)

oh why don't i jump? since smashpop LOVES jumps! ergh, too typical lah.

the ultimate answer is to.
ZAP our creativity in our left / right brains and join forces to create an extra super duper spectacular masterpeice.
and so may i present to you, typical smile with paper pose added with a clear focus blur background plus a little jumping action.

oh yes, i really do want free prints
so please MTV, pimp my ride!

----- ----- ----- ----- ----- ----- -----

it was a random thought that sparked behind our brains. we were a teeny bit hungry so we took our belongings and just ventured off where the roads lead us. lo and behold, 1.5 kilometers away to a mamak in sri petaling.
but we forgot to look at the sky, thin white stripes were flashing and small drips were felt.
the smartest, most normal thing to do - oh shit, run! ah the adrenaline rush cycling against the busy after-work traffic with dangling maggi mee and teh o ais limau.
it never did rain =,=

my mom said i'd remember this childhood memory for the rest of my life. well, we shall find out.

1300-13-1300

i hate mcdonald's delivery.

they make you place your order with so much anticipation and excitement only to realise it wouldn't arrive as fast as ordering in the "real FASTFOOD restaurant". instead, all thats left to do is to wait in agony.

until _________________ arrives =D

things that smile.

there are just some things that turn my day into a huge sun with cool sunglasses smiling like no other.
its all in the details.

#1: feeling the cold breeze gushing against my entire body, tiny droplets of puddle water splashing over my legs, passing by the suddenly empty and lifeless streets, all added with that adrenaline rush of cycling as fast as you can down a slope with 2 crotch-hurting bumps ahead, accompanied with little water sprinklers from sky.

only to get home and realise your hair smells like longkang and your crocs are mud filled inside and out.

now thats what i call, TEMPORARY SATISFACTION.

5. MORE. DAYS!

Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself.

Thursday, October 15, 2009

Come back to me, baby

and so i went to the ultimate original super duper CANON center today.
and so i got back my super duper image capturing cool black paparazi lookalike equipment =D
and also got to know something called "CANON CUSTOMER CENTER" or was it more like a rest area
and fought with pauline over who should press the "TEH TARIK" button on a coffee machine
and that was how my day went.
oh not forgetting pasar malam with pauline. ugh. food.
glad to know ill be image happy and fat =)

grass colours and whatnot

forgive me, i'm a big fat sleep deprived monster at the point of this post being published.

why is the grass always greener at the other side of the line?

as we approach the start of our last final examinations of our lives and thus the last holiday trip before the big bag of SPM comes...

why aren't we contented with what is organised for us?

when we were trip-less, we complain.
when we're given a trip, we complain.

why wouldn't we realise the oppurtunity thrown at us?
even with the lingering thought behind our minds about the absence of this year's post pmr trip.
we were lucky we didn't have the same fate with them, but why won't we realise?

if a trip to an unexpected place would bring us all united as how we faced goliaths before, wouldn't it be worth it?

If you just realized what I just realized
We'd never have to wonder if
We missed out on each other now.
-Colbie Caillat's Realize.

Look, if you had, one shot, or one opportunity
To seize everything you ever wanted - one moment
Would you capture it? Or just let it slip?
This opportunity comes once in a lifetime yo

11.10.09

ah, what a breath of fresh pictures to my blog, like f-i-n-ally!

(its supposed to be sunrise but WHO THE HECK)

but first, i need to proclaim my love for my beloved camera and my favourite lens. 500D + 50mm.
I MISS YOU!
boy oh boy, i haven't told you, havent i? i sent the lens to canon and they kidnapped my body too =( front focusing problems or so.

time to whip up my old 1000D also known as "mint / rusty" (i'm indecisive) and my other not so favourable lenses.

just a short Q & A session to clear all your undoubtful doubts.
location: PETALING STREET.
whytheheck petalingstreet: sister's college assignment.
so whotheheck was the snapper: not me.
then who: use you puny brains.

here goes!

i totally bulled there. the last few pictures were mine. gotta give myself some HARD EARNED CREDITS.

PHOTOGRAPHER'S NOTES:
photographing in petaling street is strictly a big pain in the arse. ARSE!
shopkeepers with their rudeness and unphotogenic-ness all rowdy and grumpy at you.
and i totally still miss my favourite lens and favourite body.

next photoraphically talented update would be WHEN I GET MY CAMERA BACK.

there are ants on my books

the randomest thing i did this week:

i got thirsty. so i took the bike, cycled to 7eleven, bought sprite and pocky biscuits and full pedalled back to studying, as if nothing had just happened.

i popped open the bottle and sprite came gushing out.

oh i forgot i full peddaled back home. D"OH.

now that was the most entertaining incident of the week.

rest assured in 2 weeks time, MUAHHHAAHHA. (an evil self laughter, who knows what ill do)

Songs for STUDYIN.

I've heard of songs for eating, songs for dancing and songs for sleeping.
but have you heard of songs for studyin? BETCHA haven't!

first, some of my qualifications because you wouldn't wanna listen to some stuck up loser.
i've got very good ears and thus a very good taste of music. it comes together, y'know.
that's all my credentials, but trust me, your life will never be the same after listening to songs for STUDYIN.

in no particular order,

Taylor Swift's The Best Day (dedicated to her mum), White Horse, Forever and Always
you know what, just listen to her whole album FEARLESS.

Colbie Caillat's Fallin For You, Bubbly, Realize, The Little Things, Battle, Oxygen, Midnight Bottle

The Fray's cover of Kanye West's Heartless.
i got sick of all their other songs, sorreh but they all sound the same.

Augustana's acoustic version of Sweet and Low, Sunday Best, Boston, More than a Love Song, Empty Days

Pixie Lott's The Fall/Turn It Up, acoustic version of Mama Do, cover of Kings of Leon's Use Somebody, Lady Gaga's Poker Face
heck, she's only 18 this year.

Boys like Girls' Two is Better Than One feat Taylor Swift, Love DrunkHeart Heart Heartbreak

Uncle Kracker's Smile, Follow Me

Corinne Bailey Rae's Like A Star, Put Your Records On

Plain White T's A Lonely September, 1234, Hey There Delilah

SRI SEMPURNA'S PREFECT APPRECIATION DAY '09

My head is a box full of nothing, and that's the way I like it.
Ben Lee - Catch My Disease sounds like a mild version mika but a john mayer on steroids, with an adorable baby blue piano!

It was a Friday, i love fridays, i don't need to wake up in the weee weee mornings and sit in a squashy overloaded van to school. sigh.

oh but last friday was different. abel the newly crowned head prefect invited me to officialphotograph for the SRI SEMPURNA'S ANNUAL PREFECT APPRECIATION DAY.
some self-history lesson here, i used to be a prefect wayy back in the early days 3.5 years ago and those times, those times probationary prefects weren't favourable and not invited to prefect events such as these. the next year, was nothing very special, until i got fired the following year. MUAHAHHAHAH.
so this year is my first official year of being invited to a prefect-only event without actually being a prefect.

the whole event started after school with a buffet with an array of 4 food to choose from - fried popiah, fried wedges, fried chicken and pizza. either way, your doomed if you got a case of soar throat =D
oh not forgetting some Orange Juice which i cunningly sipped 10 cups of, gotta get even with my free labour. but you know me, i have a secret passion for sweet drinks =)

it was like a set in Gossip Girl, a toned down version of the socialites' gatherings. well mannered people mingling with each other but injected with laughter.

icebreaker or no icebreaker, i couldnt figure, they were playing "which hand can squeeze an ice longer"

some chit here and a little more chat there, everyone gently proceeded to the school hall for some speeches and testimonials and pillow giving and announcements.
it felt more like a form 5 prefects appreciation event. oh snap!

as quoted by the prefects, "the not so AMAZING race".

till then, im a punani high on textbooks.

PHOTOGRAPHER'S NOTES:
i got free food for being OP (official photogg) but i think the pictures didn't perform well up to my self-raised (whenever i want to) expectations. makes me feel like a ____. ain't good.
